Discipling Tomorrow’s Leaders

As a children’s ministry leader at a small school in Rwanda, Chaplain Samuel Odekke knows the value of raising up a generation of young leaders who love and follow Jesus. His country is still recovering from the brutal genocide that turned neighbor against neighbor, leaving hundreds of thousands dead and many more struggling with grief, anger, and fear. “Rwanda must be founded on the Word of God through discipleship and mentorship of the young generation so that what happened before will not happen again,” Samuel said.

Samuel is mentoring young leaders (some of whom are pictured here) using Life on Life, a discipleship resource provided by the David Caleb Cook Foundation. Life on Life offers biblically based spiritual formation, character development, and life skills lessons that help children to see that they can trust God in every area of their lives. With topics such as managing difficult emotions, healing from abuse, and maintaining good personal hygiene, Life on Life addresses the real issues children face, even the difficult ones.

“I am humbled and excited to be using Life on Life,” Samuel shared. “As a teacher entrusted with the spiritual and character development of young people, the Life on Life curriculum is a well-structured material which has learner-centered activities and lessons that surely lead to the spiritual and character development of learners.”

Samuel has seen the ways God is using Life on Life to transform the lives of the children and young teens at his school. But it’s not just the students whose lives are being changed. “As God has called me to make a difference in the lives of the young children, Life on Life is also making a difference in me,” Samuel shared. “I have seen my own spiritual life edified through the teacher devotions, and the lessons that I teach my learners every single day have triggered the hunger in me to find more of the Word of God.”

The generosity of caring people like you makes it possible for small schools like Samuel’s and even large denominations to use Life on Life free of charge—and God is using this resource to raise up a generation of young leaders who will transform the world with His love. So on behalf of children all over the globe who are being discipled through DCCF’s Life on Life, thank you for changing lives and bringing hope for the future.
