Faced with poor internet connection and unreliable electricity, ministry leaders in Venezuela wondered how they could participate in the David Caleb Cook Foundation’s training webinar. But they were committed to learning how to better serve the children in their churches and communities, so they asked God for a solution—and, of course, He provided one.

Local leaders who were able to attend the webinar listened carefully and downloaded the presentation on their phones. Then they met with other local teachers using a social media app over a few weeks, sharing the presentation in the form of pictures and repeating what they had heard. Other teachers met in small in-person groups, where leaders shared the presentation on their phones and led the teaching and activities. Thanks to their commitment and ingenuity, more than 400 teachers were trained and are now encouraged to serve the children in their communities and equipped to meet their needs.

Stories like this happen all over the world as part of the David Caleb Cook Foundation’s training program. Reaching teachers both online and in person, DCCF’s training helps teachers to better understand how to speak to the hearts and minds of children. Topics such as understanding God’s heart for children, ministering to children who have experienced trauma, and how to teach in active ways that help children remember provide inspiration, encouragement, and practical skills for children’s ministry leaders. Many participants attend the training thinking they will learn how to be better teachers and leave with a renewed passion for children’s ministry and a stronger commitment to deepening their faith.

Listen to what one of the Venezuela training participants, Macarena, shared about her experience:

“This training helps us as teachers with new strategies to develop good relationships with the children and to be effective teachers. The theme from the training that most strongly ministered to me was the information about vulnerable and at-risk children. This helped me to understand God’s call on my life. Now I want to work with these children to impact their lives in a positive way. Thank you very much for all you are doing for Venezuela!”

On behalf of Macarena and hundreds of other teachers like her around the world, we’re grateful for your prayers and support for DCCF.
